Luckily, My gym membership is in full effect and I'm not feeling too terrrible about my waistline.

I've been busily at work drawing, watercoloring and photographing getting to the point of a total, self-sustaining flow of creativity. This newish avenue of photography has been taken to a new level that I didn't expect. My wonderful and beautiful partner, Stephanie, and I are starting a photography business. She has seemingly unlimited amounts of knowledge on the subject that I continue to learn and take notes from her constantly. You need to see her website, http://www.stephephotography.com. I've noticed also how photography has also helped put a frame around what I see in my brain. My compostition has improved greatly. I highly encourage aspiring illustrators to also snap some shots on camera and always be conscious of how the eye is being led within a confined space.

Another thing that's coming your way via my hand is another book that will exposé fantasy artists in the southwest. I've been designing different dragons and scenes, one of which will envolve a desert and some dragon bones. Right now at my fancy watercolor station (fancy= two television trays) I am working on a Jaberwocky with shrunk Alice standing up to him. Also, disregard the Alice depicted down below...

That is poor Mad Hatter getting squished...

It will also be up on Amazon.com in about a week or so. It feels so rewarding to have a physical copy of something that I solely created. It legitimizes and validates why I do this. I would definitely recommend it!

Happy Festivus!

As the year winds down, I find myself getting more and more energized about my art! My children's comic, "How to Catch a Ghost," is going to be complete by the end of the year, well, the pencils anyway. Then comes the really fun part, inking! I can't wait to see the end result. Thank you to my fans, family and friends. Be safe and I'll get some new stuff up for you to see soon!

With this new venture I have been playing a lot with encaustics. For those of you that don't know what the heck an encaustic is: it's wax and pigment, basically. It makes me work quickly because it dries almost immediately and the natural use of it lends nicely to abstract art, which makes my brain work to deliver a message in a very different manner. I love this new medium almost as much as watercolors! Well, almost. Also, I'll be entering a juried show and will hopefully get a few pieces in.

I finished the first draft to "How to Catch a Ghost." It's a comic that will be for all ages about a boy genius named, Russell Tombs and his best friend and assistant, Abrams. They find themselves in a bit of a pickle trying to make a a device that will catch a ghost in time to beat their rival Aaron Galaxy at the Super Science Symposium in the category of ghost studies. A defining tragedy happens to Russell and he tries to fix the errors of his ways. I am really excited to get moving on this and the challenges that I have made for myself. Keep an eye out for updates!

JoeBro ≠ Jonas Brothers!
<category term="G.i. Now I know you are thinking that all this was because of my massive fan following, but it is not the truth. The Disney hyped Jonas Brothers are taking away something that I had created years ago and that is my name, Joe Bro. My website is even joebrodesign.com and when that's googled, all that comes up is an awful t-shirt design contest! I'm pretty good, well somewhat good, at playing guitar and I can even illustrate a book or design a business card or brochure to promote a small business. I'm certain the Jonas Brothers are not this proficient. This term would be more acceptable if it applied to G.I. Joe. I would fully support and be proud of the fact that I'm a Joe Bro named Joe Brown, who signs his artwork Joe Bro. So that is why I am starting the movement to take back what is mine... or maybe G.I. Joe's term. Look out Urban Dictionary, I got this.
